This is gonna kind of ramble and might not make much sense.
After much research (read, pinning and letting my thoughts wander) I've finally been able to put into words why raw uncut gems tickle my fancy so much. For me, they are as love should be. A precious thing in its purest, least altered form. There are no artificial facets that have been cut and polished into societal perfection. It is nothing more than something naturally formed. There is nothing hidden within the cut and polished surfaces, no artificial perfection. However, there is beauty in its simple imperfections, a sense of realness not found in a cut stone, in my humble opinion.
The cut stones are perfection: Altered, flawless perfection. Something difficult to connect with as a human who has many flaws. Those flaws, the imperfections and bumps and sometimes splotchy colors...those make each stone unique, just like our flaws and imperfections make our love stories unique.
